My birthday special blog

KEEP ON READING  NATURAL WONDERS IGUAZU FALLS Iguazú Falls or Iguaçu Falls (Guarani: Chororõ Yguasu [ɕoɾo'ɾõ ɨɣʷa'su], Spanish: Cataratas del Iguazú [kataˈɾatas del iɣwaˈsu]; Portuguese: Cataratas do Iguaçu [kataˈɾatɐs du iɡwaˈsu]) are waterfalls of the Iguazu River on the border of the Argentine province of Misiones and the Brazilian state of Paraná. Together, they make up the largest waterfall in the world.[2] The falls divide the river into the upper and lower Iguazu. The Iguazu River rises near the heart of the city of Curitiba. For most of its course, the river flows through Brazil; however, most of the falls are on the Argentine side. Below its confluence with the San Antonio River, the Iguazu River forms the border between Argentina and Brazil. The name Iguazú comes from the Guarani or Tupi words "y" [ɨ], meaning "water", and "ûasú "[waˈsu], meaning "big".[3] Legend has it that a deity planned to marry a beautiful...

Dark Matter

Image
DARK MATTER What is dark matter? Dark matter is stuff in space that has gravity, but it is unlike anything scientists have ever seen before. Together, dark matter and dark energy make up 95% of the universe. That only leaves a small 5% for all the matter and energy we know and understand. This might be a surprise, but we don’t know what most of the universe is made of. Seriously, we don’t. You might be thinking, “But of course we do! It’s made of galaxies, stars, planets, black holes, comets, asteroids, and all the other cool space stuff!” Yes, there is a lot of amazing space stuff, but if we add it all up, it’s just a very small part of the entire universe. There’s a lot more out there. And we don’t fully understand what it is. a galaxy saying 'hm. well that's pretty weird. When scientists study our universe, they see that it’s expanding. But if the universe is only made of the galaxies, stars, planets, and ot...

Mars - Is life possible there

MARS We know enough of MARS so I dont think I need to give information over MARS . My today's blog mainly focuses on evidence of life in MARS . Yes evidence like fossils were found of small  creatures .  Extremely small creatures . Second prooof is that there is hollow like where through for many years river flowed . Yes till now it is there , No soil has take its place . The first spacecraft to successfully land on Mars, NASA's Viking 1, began a mystery that remains tantalizingly unsolved: Is there evidence of life on Mars? Viking represented the first and so far only attempt to search for life on Mars, and its findings are hotly debated today. Viking had detected organic molecules such as methyl chloride and dichloromethane. However, these compounds were dismissed as terrestrial contamination — namely, cleaning fluids used to prepare the spacecraft whe...

Catatumbo Lightning

CATATUMBO LIGHTNING In Venezuela, at the mouth of the Catatumbo River where it meets the Lake Maracaibo, a unique and impressive natural phenomenon, variously known as the "Catatumbo lightning", the "Beacon of Maracaibo" or the “Everlasting Storm”, captures the eyes and attention of all observers there to witness it. Here, the night sky is regularly illuminated for nine hours at a time, with lightning striking the sky at the rate of about 28 strikes per minute. 260 storm days a year are experienced in the region, generating almost 1.2 million lightning strikes per year. This amazing spectacle of nature is often visible as a brightly illuminated night sky from as far away as 400 kilometers from the origin of the lightning strikes. The Catatumbo lightning events are like no other phenomenon in the world. Even though previously the mountain village of Kifuka in the Democratic Republic of Congo in Central Africa was know to be the most electr...

The most mysterious Bermuda triangle

World Famous BERMUDA TRIANGLE  Humans often have a habit of believing they have more knowledge than they do. However, we know very little about our planet, and if we take a step back and look at the universe surrounding us, we know even less. When we talk about our planet, the fact that we know little about it is even more true if we focus on the oceans. A large part of our oceans are still unexplored, and who knows what kinds of mysteries and secrets they hide. Still, one of the most well-known mysteries found in our oceans is the Bermuda Triangle. Sometimes called the Devil’s Triangle or Hurricane Alley, this is a region found in the western parts of the North Atlantic Ocean. The region is loosely defined, and it is known as the place where several ships and planes disappeared under inexplicable circumstances. he Origin Of The Mystery The name “Bermuda Triangle” was given to this region by writer Vincent Gaddis in 1964. He came up with the phrase while wri...

Crooked forest

Image
CROOKED FOREST The Crooked Forest is a grove of 400 oddly shaped pine trees located near the town of Gryfino, West Pomerania in Poland. The pine trees were planted around 1930 when its location was still within the German province of Pomerania. From the base, the pine trees grow with a 90-degree sharp bend northward, but then curve back to grow straight up into the sky. Despite the unnatural curves bending three to nine feet sideways at their bases, these trees are generally healthy and grow up to 50 feet tall. There are many theories on the mystery, although there is little to no evidence to support any of them. Some hypothesize that a unique gravitational pull in this particular area caused the trees to grow curved northwards, but this theory does not hold up to basic scientific scrutiny given that gravity pulls things downward and not at a curve. Others guess that the heavy snowfall in the area weighed down the trees as th...

Constellations and its types

Image
CONSTELLATIONS Constellations are groups of stars. The constellations you can see at night depend on your location on Earth and the time of year. Constellations were named after objects, animals, and people long ago. Astronomers today still use constellations to name stars and meteor showers. A constellation is a group of stars that looks like a particular shape in the sky and has been given a name. These stars are far away from Earth. They are not connected to each other at all. Some stars in a constellation might be close while others are very far away. But, if you were to draw lines in the sky between the stars like a dot-to-dot puzzle – and use lots of imagination – the picture would look like an object, animal, or person. Over time, cultures around the world have had different names and numbers of constellations depending on what people thought they saw. Today, there are 88 officially recognized constellati...

Large Magellanic Cloud

Image
LARGE MAGELLANIC CLOUD The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way.[5] At a distance of around 50 kiloparsecs (≈160,000 light-years),[2][6][7][8] the LMC is the second- or third-closest galaxy to the Milky Way, after the Sagittarius Dwarf Spheroidal (~16 kpc) and the possible dwarf irregular galaxy known as the Canis Major Overdensity. Based on readily visible stars and a mass of approximately 10 billion solar masses, the diameter of the LMC is about 14,000 light-years (4.3 kpc). It is roughly a hundredth as massive as the Milky Way[3] and is the fourth-largest galaxy in the Local Group, after the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), the Milky Way and the Triangulum Galaxy (M33). The LMC is classified as a Magellanic spiral.[9] It contains a stellar bar that is geometrically off center, suggesting that it was a barred dwarf spiral galaxy before its spiral arms were disrupted, likely by tidal interactions from the Small Mage...
